Our second and third JOIN performances of winter took place on the most PERFECT of all double-header days: Valentine’s Day! This past Wednesday, violinists Linda Duan and Ariel Clayton Karas brought music to the lobby of the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center for veterans, their families, and staff. Additionally, they shared music with patients and family prior to a wedding vow renewal service in the medical center’s chapel! It was an absolute treat to see the joy on patients’ faces as they enjoyed our music.
Later that afternoon, a string quartet arrived at Laura’s Home for an afternoon performance for women and children. Laura’s Home is a crisis shelter housing both mothers and their children on the west side of Cleveland, and is a division of The City Mission. We performed everything from Mozart to Sesame Street for our audiences, and loved visiting with them afterwards (and sharing some Valentine’s Day chocolates)!
It’s been exciting to test-drive this new concert series and build partnerships with important Cleveland organizations. We look forward to more, and hope you’ll continue to follow our work! Our next JOIN concert takes place on March 21 at Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Correctional Facility.
